There is also an Observatory Tour that begins once it’s completely dark, around 10-11 pm, and lasts for one hour, where visitors can watch the celestial bodies(constellations & dwarf planets) with a 16-inch telescope.

Along with the tour, there is an experienced guide who will escort you and tell you every important detail about the constellations and how they used to be so sacred & holy in Roman and Greek mythologies.

Ziplining Tours

The tour begins with scavenging the Carolinian Forest for mushrooms and then knowing which ones are edible or not. There are certain pre-scheduled dates throughout the whole year for the event, on which you can even learn how to cook mushrooms and pair them up with delicious wine from the experienced chefs in the resort.

When I tried it, I had no clue which one was edible and which one was not. All thanks to my friend Jon, who helped me figure out and made the experience totally worth it. Now, I have fairly good knowledge about which mushrooms are fit for human consumption.

Cycling

There is a 53-mile stretch of forest trail at the resort, which is a haven for cycling and biking enthusiasts. You can also go ahead with the guided tour, where a professional mountain bike instructor will tell you how to navigate the bumpy forest trails without falling on the ground.

But my case was a bit different; I started cycling very energetically, but as soon as I hit the 10-mile mark, I began to realize that it’s not as easy as it seems. Everyone else completed the track almost on time, and I was struggling so hard that I had to take an extra 50 minutes to complete it. Although it was very enervating, I still like the whole experience.

Canoeing

Canoeing is a popular, fun & adventurous water activity at the resort, where visitors can enjoy the scenic beauty of Big Creek National Wildlife Area while paddling in the water. It feels like you are effortlessly traveling to the Canadian Amazon forest, aka the rainforests of South Ontario.

I tried it with my friends (a group of 4), and we rented two canoes and headed straight to the water. Firstly, I was struggling to even move the paddle, but one of my friends taught me how to paddle with less effort.

As I learned it, I was the last one to leave the water, and we were even late by one hour because of that. All in all, I enjoyed canoeing a lot.

Winery Tour

Located across the road, the Burning Kiln Winery is also a great place to have some fun, but make sure you don’t have any kids with you(kind of advice). The tours provide deep insight into how the wine is made from scratch and how it is packed into bottles.

The place also has a patio restaurant where you can enjoy a delicious meal and the authentic taste of wine. If you don’t like to drink, then you can skip the tour.

Fishing

Imagine a day of your summer break beside Lake Erie, catching fish and kayaking in the water. Well, you can do that at the Long Point Resort, just make sure you have a valid fishing license and are required to follow all the rules and regulations of fishing in that area.
